We are here again with a very interesting interview of the hockey Spanish star Xavi Lleonart. Playing for Polo and the Red Sticks he is considerated the present and future of the Red Sticks. With just 26 years, he has already gone to two Olimpics. Fantastic!

When do you start playing hockey? Why?
I started playing hockey at the age of 4 in C.D.Terrassa because my parents were members of the club.

Were you determinated since you were kid?
Absolutly yes, hockey is the sport of my life.

Did go go to under-national teams?
Yes, I'm lucky because I played every tournament with the U16 U18 and U21.

Do you think are necessary for the young players?
When you are a kid the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy playing hockey, be happy in a team. When you are in the U16-U21 range the most important is trying to improve in every training and also trying to copy the top players.

If you score a goal vs CDTerrassa, will you celebrate?
I already scored a goal against my old club and I never celebrated it because I have a lot of friends there.

What's the feeling that you feel when you play in Olimpics?
The olympics are the best competition that a hockey player can play. Unfortunately hockey in Spain is not a popular sport but in the olympics we have a lot of fans and we feel the country supporting us. Is dificult to play with a lot of media pressure but is a special moment in your life!

Polo is the Spanish team with more abroad players, Do you think that you have more preassure playing whit Baart, Ibarra, Vila...?
It doesn't matter the foreign players, we are Polo and we always have the pressure of winning. The international players give us more chances to reach the goals. With Baart, Vila, Ibarra, Rey, Alegre we have highest expectations to win all the tournaments.

Thank you Xavi.
